Urban Air Adventure Park

Updated: Dec 1, 2020

Aledo residents Sean and Linda Sandefur are known for their proclivity toward adventure, and their latest business venture is evidence to prove it.

Recently opened in Hudson Oaks, Urban Air Adventure Park is a 39,000 square foot facility not unlike stepping into a kid’s dream. Customers can partake in Laser Tag, Bumper Cars, Climbing Walls, Trampolines and a multitude of fun activities sure to add a unique layer of excitement for children and gain ‘brownie points’ for their parents.

For Sean and Linda, Urban Air was an easy choice.

“I’m basically a teen in a 42-year-old body,” Sean said. “So I’ve just always goofed around, always worked with the kids, and we’ve just always been trying to find ways to have a new adventure.”

Linda, he said, is no different. She can ski, scuba dive and has her pilot’s license.

The Sandefurs are familiar with fun, but also business. Urban Air was founded in Southlake, Texas, in 2011, and has grown to more than 140 locations in 20 states. Linda has owned a franchise business before, so the couple had no qualms with taking on the mission of bringing Urban Air to their community. It was a great fit for all the active families in East Parker County!

“For me personally, it was like a mission to have a great place in our area to have fun birthday party experiences,” Linda said. “We have been to a ton of birthday parties and have had our kids have their own birthday parties at places, and sometimes it just wasn’t quite as

exciting — even just when it comes down to how the party host was with the birthday kid. So, I felt like we could make a difference in that area and be able to really make birthdays special.”

The facility also has 12 different party zones, with the option to upgrade to a private suite. For birthday parties, they provide balloons, decorations, a board with the birthday kid’s name on it, and all the utensils you’ll need when you cut, and eat, the cake. While the company has numerous options for additional party package upgrades, like pizzas, wings and sandwiches, the venue isn’t solely focused on turning a profit.

Urban Air Adventure Park, partnered with The Chosen Ones Birthday Gift Program, gifts birthday parties to children in the foster care system. Each party is hosted the last Sunday of every month from 5-7pm at the Hudson Oaks, Southlake, Bedford and Fort Worth locations. Sean and Linda specifically hold a special place in their hearts for Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville where Linda’s dad worked closely with the leadership there. They are partnering with Foster’s Home as well to provide as many foster children as possible the memory of a lifetime with an awesome birthday celebration while they forget about the cares of the world.

The Sandefurs are also aiming to do their part to better the community they live in and impact young lives.

“We’re trying to use this as an opportunity to raise our kids here in this community right and get them trained,” Sean said. “Linda is also part of the Young Men’s Service League. She and our sons hope to have a direct impact on your community by their dedication of time to nonprofit organizations in our community like Justin’s Place and the Aledo Advocat’s Clothes Closet.

Many of the employees at Urban Air are entering the workforce for the first time, giving them a safe environment to learn responsibility and organization.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Urban Air has made even sanitation fun. Along with other extensive measures taken to promote and ensure the safety of their customers, every hour guests of Urban Air will hear the Cupid Shuffle, signifying to all it is time for the staff to go through their cleaning procedures.

If you’re looking for a place to shake off the restlessness of these past few months, Urban Air, and the Sandefurs, might have just the thing you’re looking for.
